Educational Resources

Hampton Roads holds the highest standards for higher education.

When the College of William & Mary was founded in 1693, the only other university in the New World was a little place called Harvard. So Hampton Roads has a very long tradition of providing outstanding education. In fact, the most recent rankings say that William & Mary is one of the elite public universities in the nation.

Joining this prestigious institution are seven other outstanding colleges and universities throughout Hampton Roads, plus four more community colleges. Together these schools provide a variety of courses, locations, and traditions to suit a wide range of people—96,000 in all—who are on the road to achieving their dreams. Not surprisingly, many of these students are eager to enter the workforce right here in Hampton Roads.

Of course, education, doesn’t begin in college, but many years earlier. Fortunately Hampton Roads offers many options for primary and secondary education, as well. Several of our localities boast excellent public school systems with the test scores to prove it. And many of our private schools are among the very best anywhere. See for yourself right here.
