BETA Hampton Roads Metro Area

Hampton Roads is the second largest metropolitan area between Washington, DC and Atlanta. Anchored by the largest natural deepwater port in the world, Hampton Roads boasts a strategic location on the mid-Atlantic coast of the United States. Fifteen thriving communities make up the Hampton Roads region, many of which have been named "best places to live" by various publications. In addition, the region benefits from a workforce of approximately 830,000 exceptionally skilled and experienced people, including thousands of highly trained men and women either exiting the military or graduating from college. Finally, with its mild climate, popular sites to visit, events to enjoy, great schools, unique attractions, and beaches, its no wonder that millions of visitors and new residents flock to Hampton Roads each year.
As one of the driving economic engines in Virginia, Forbes Magazine's Best State for Business for four of the past five years, nearly 100,000 businesses call Hampton Roads home. With some of the lowest corporate income tax rates, workers’ compensation rates, and union membership rates in the nation, there is no better place to do business than Hampton Roads.
