Gaming, Modeling and Simulation
"Through collaborative mod-sim and visualization research and development, VMASC (Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center) has become one of the world’s leading research centers for this high tech, in-demand industry. Hampton Roads’ schools offer numerous M&S academic programs, providing a significant supply of talent and fresh ideas, which ensures the future success of VMASC. Annually, the Center conducts approximately $6 million in funded research, which ensures our students remain ahead of the curve and among the most knowledgeable and skilled in the world."
-John A. Sokolowski, Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center
Since the inception of modeling and simulation, the Hampton Roads region has been at the forefront of the field. Recognizing the vital cost-saving potential of the modeling and simulation industry, the Commonwealth began an initiative in 2005 to ensure it remained globally competitive. As a result, Virginia has the highest concentration of technology workers in the country, totaling over 172,000 employees. Hampton Roads’ thriving tech industry is as diverse as it is cutting-edge. Area graduates are also skilled in computer game design, an $80 billion dollar industry.
