Meet the Team: Angela Parsons
The Alliance is pleased to introduce our newest staff member, Angela Parsons, Executive Assistant to the President & CEO.
Angela is new to the Hampton Roads region, having relocated from Northern California in July 2016. She and her husband, a medical masters’ student at Eastern Virginia Medical School, are excited to be in Virginia and look forward to exploring all the region has to offer for both work and play.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Angela worked as the Foundation & Marketing Assistant to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California. Read her full bio here.
Why are you excited to be part of the team at The Alliance?
As a new east coast resident, I'm excited to get involved and get to know people. This is the largest staff I've ever worked with and it’s exciting to see all the moving parts and how well everyone works together. We're doing such important work in the region and this is such a great way to learn about our communities and the area.
What do you love about Hampton Roads?
I love how marine themed everything is! It's so integrated into every detail featuring anchors, mermaids, ships, restaurant names, the news station named "Wavy News," I even saw a shrubbery sculpted to look like waves!
Why do you think people in Virginia and beyond should take notice of what's happening in Hampton Roads?
This region is so vast with so many distinct areas that boast their unique qualities. Coming from a small town surrounded by agricultural fields in Northern California I'm not used to having so many other communities and opportunities nearby. There are so many places to visit and things to do within a few hours from home.
What are some of your favorite restaurants, hobbies or activities for when you’re not at work?
We have so many restaurants here and I'm trying to visit as many as I can! The place that keeps sticking in my mind is Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint. While I haven't gone back yet, I can't wait to! I’m a big fan of keeping up with television shows and exploring the area with my husband. There’s so much to do and see here that it's a bit overwhelming but very exciting. I subscribe to quite a few Virginia event calendars so we can hit all the highlights in our spare time.
