Meet the Alliance
Rick L. Weddle serves as President & CEO for the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance. In his role, he leads the operations of our 9-person staff that represents 11 municipalities and over 55 private sector investors in the Hampton Roads region.
The Business Development Team works in various capacities within research and marketing to successfully assist domestic and international companies with their expansion plans to Hampton Roads. Amy Parkhurst, Senior Vice President of Business Development, is responsible for planning and implementing an aggressive schedule of corporate appointments with C-level executives and consultants; acting as initial point of contact for expanding and relocating businesses; facilitating the investigation of the region as a viable location alternative; and making formal presentations to clients and key organizational investors. As a Vice President of Business Development, Laura Hayes is responsible for identifying business opportunities, building key partner relationships and marketing the region to both domestic and international companies. The Business Development team regularly meets with corporate and site location decision makers within the United States and around the world and within the United States.
The Business Intelligence Team provides market research and economic analysis in support of the organization’s long-term strategic initiatives and economic development goals to strengthen and diversify the regional economy of Hampton Roads. Director of Business Intelligence, Chad Matheson, engages a broad range of analytic and interactive marketing techniques. These techniques allow for production of qualitative & quantitative regional research, competitive benchmarking analysis, creative content design, and innovative program development all of which speak directly to regional industry presence and performance, labor market trends and conditions, and cluster development and innovation. Business Intelligence Associate, Jonathan Holman, collaborates with Matheson to monitor and report key economic trends impacting the Hampton Roads region. Some of their additional responsibilities include: maintaining and updating inventory of base market research, generating business intelligence on targeted companies, assisting external stakeholders with research requests, creating collateral highlighting regional strengths, managing the quarterly C2ER Cost of Living Index data collection, and collaborating with the Business Intelligence department.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
The Marketing & Communications team is responsible for maintaining the Alliance’s brand and identity throughout all print and digital communication and serves as a primary point of contact for media relations. Jillian Goodwin, Director of Marketing & Communications, provides graphic design and copywriting for numerous advertising, special events and promotional/marketing materials utilized by the organization. She also manages the website and inRoads Blog as well as maintains, monitors, and creates reporting for all social media used by the organization. Associate of Marketing and Communications, Addie Mason, is responsible for content production across all digital platforms and print materials. She also creates and organizes video and photographic assets, offers graphic design solutions and manages social media.
The Operations team ensures that the functions of the Alliance are running smoothly day-to-day. Angela Parsons serves as the Director of Operations for the Alliance. Her responsibilities include planning, coordinating and maintaining the CEO’s schedule; providing administrative, coordination and preparation support for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Officers meetings; assisting with coordination of special events and promotional activities; and resolving information requests in addition to administering our CRM database and managing all investor relations details. The Operations team also includes Adelaide Gilmore as Administrative Assistant. Gilmore provides administrative support to the President/CEO and Senior Vice Presidents; project support to the Business Development, Business Intelligence, Marketing & Communications and Investor & Stakeholder Relations teams and serves as primary reception liaison to guests, visitors and callers.
